These are data handling standards.  Click on one of the circles above to see its handling standards.

According to MAPP 1.13 all staff, students, faculty, vendors and contractors must safeguard Western University data according to this standard.  Information has a life-cycle that starts when it is created or discovered and ends when it is destroyed.  Safeguarding data must take place at every stage. Therefore, it's important to understand how Western data is to be protected thoughout it's life.

All staff, students, faculty, vendors and contractors should be able to readily identify the data classification of the information resources they encounter, and are responsible for ensuring the minimum standards of treatment are met outlined in the cycle above.

Each unit is responsible for assigning a Data Steward who will be responsible for classifying that unit’s data into the classifications as defined in the Data Classification Standard.
